I check dns, check the status of the server itself, the service, everything. Issue: Plex Media Server starts then stops after upgrade to build 2935 (has previously been working fine for years. I walk into the other room and go to load up plex via chrome while I work on some 3d printers. My wife is watching TV and using the Roku plex app without issue. Plex runs in a VM on a server in the same rack. some help would be greatly appreciated, for i r at a lost. uninstalled plex and re-installed, no luck. Job for rvice failed because the control process exited with error code. i have already chown'ed and chmod'ed the /var/lib/plexmediaserver directory (i have it running again just to be sure), with -R of course. Latest Plex media server is 1.-c789b3fbb Augdepending on which synology you have here are the file. If you cant install a plex update via synology package center then you can manually update from plex website, which is usually a couple version newer. I've tried, with the debian source or with the deb. Sometime package stop working with newer os version. It's doesn't seem to work in 16.04 (because systemd ?). In Ubuntu 14.04, I could edit /etc/default/plexmediaserver so that it would be run by me. I believe It's a permission issue because plexmediaserver is run by 'plex' user. I can install it but it can't see my files.
